Yay! Boo. Boo hiss.

Yay! I totally owned my midterm for digital electronics. 100%, baby.

Boo. I got totally owned by my electronic devices midterm. It wasn't dreadfully I'm-gonna-dye type ownage (though I am going to dye... as soon as I find gloves), but it was fairly bad.

Boo hiss. I'm sucking it up hardcore in CS 145. To the point where I'm actually going to study. Gasp.

P.S. I might turn on e-mail notification for commentses. This could get annoying, but I've always just assumed I have too many comments for that and it would get on my nerves too much. Assumptions are bad.

The End is Near

Most people at this point believe it will fall on Julie's birthday this year, June 6th. I predict a few disturbed individuals going out of their way to be disturbing, determined to make the day eventful.

But actually I was referring to this week. Someone remind me to work on the group project tomorrow. Or maybe tonight. It needs to get done.

My list of acceptable artists for study music is expanding:

The Mars Volta
RelientK
Symphony X
Nobuo Uematsu
O'zone
Rammstein
Wolfstone
AFI
Daft Punk
Chemical Brothers
Muse
Postal Service
Lacuna Coil
Gorillaz
Disturbed
Bach

It's quite a mix, and not even necessarily my favorite artists, for general listening. It doesn't work as well to listen to my real favorite artists... I get too into the music and forget to study. But I like all those enough to have them in the background while I study. *shrug*

Whip It

I fixed the mashed togetherness of my archive links. It's been bugging me for a long time, and when I finally figured out what was wrong I felt really stupid. I knew there had to be a place where I could put in a break tag, but I never looked closely enough at the right place.

I also finally got around to using thinkgeek's nifty little xml-able wishlists.

Methinks perhaps I spend too much time playing with this.

Oh, I also meant to mention that I switched back to firefox. Safari had a few... issues. It was kind of dumb with xml, it wasn't actually noticeably faster, and it had several weird issues with the way it displayed things, especially in poorly coded sites. I decree that firefox is superior. Hey, you can't say I didn't try it.

I have triumphed over retardation

Sort of. It's the small, personal victories that make life fun. Like making irc work in adium. Though it's kind of crippled :(

I went down to alderwood mall with heather yesterday, to pick up her brand new shiny imac that apple gave her because her old one was crap. We had a grand old time, stopped at coldstone and her gramma's house, and talked about life while listening to bach. <3 heta!

My room is cold now because I opened the window earlier because it was stuffy. *pout*

Tea makes me happy

So does randomly waking up early, so that you have about twice as much time to get ready as normal. I'm not sure why, but this morning when my alarm rang I was suddenly wide awake. Usually it takes a good half hour of snooze bar to get me out of bed. Kinda sad I know, but that's the way it works.

I'm trying to get together some pictures of my family and myself, to send to my compassion child in kenya. The kid's adorable... he's 7 and is always telling me about his cows. It's cute. Anyway, I was going to make a little collage of pictures to send to him, and I don't have enough pictures of people on my computer. So if you have any of me (or by random chance, any of the rest of my family), send 'em this way.

Moof

I just got done with a quiz in my programming class. Tests wednesday and friday, and another quiz friday as well. Four assignments due tomorrow and seven thursday. Team meeting for my team project in Engineering Design on Wednesday. Leaving out all the daily homework problems. Should be a fun week. Yay sentence fragments.

I do want to try to get better grades this quarter though. I'll just have to work harder.

It's a good thing rose and I don't have a TV. If we had it, I'd either use it and waste a fair amount of time, or I'd not use it at all and it would just waste space.

On the other hand, video games are fun, and video watching is fun.

Time for home, want food.

Sprint is wack.

They just sent me an e-bill... saying that they owe me $70. Now... I'm not exactly sure how this happened, but I sure ain't complainin'.

Go Seahawks!! Superbowl, here we come.

Sledding was awesomecross, even though angie got her foot stuck in the lake and had to be dug out. The whole weekend was really fun and relaxing, and I got to know some people better, and they got to know me better, and this is good. I feel more connected, in all sorts of ways.

Only one to appreciate this will be sarah, but I'm still going to bring it up. I'm fairly positive I just heard a RNRWC (now The LIstening) song on the radio. This is awesome because I like their music a lot, and they're pretty unknown, even in christian circuits. Brian had the radio on when we got into his car, which is unusual because he's almost always listening to a cd, and one of the first lines we heard in the lyrics was something along the lines of "tattooed kids with colored hair going to church" or something. We laughed.

Am I the only one who changes the time and date every time they post because blogger uses the time you first open the post page instead of the time you actually send it? Sometimes it can take me over an hour to get a post in, because I'm doing about ten other things at the same time.

I found my ipod!

Heather told me yesterday that she couldn't use her ipod because her computer was missing, and therefor she couldn't charge said ipod. I thought to myself "I have no ipod anymore. But I do have a wall charger, for some mysterious reason. Huzzah!" So I declared that I should give her my wall charger, on the assumption that I would never use it on an ipod I no longer have.

So I went to find my wall charger. It was on my night stand, still in the little box, on top of the other little box in which the ipod-to-usb cable came. I picked it up and took out the charger so I would remember to give it to Heather today. Then I picked up the smaller box under it to get out the cable. It was heavier than it ought to be for just having a cable in it. This is because it didn't just have a cable in it.

Now... I'm not quite exactly sure how I managed to pull that box out of my packing boxes when I moved, and set it on my night stand, without ever realizing that it was much heavier than it ought to be for just having a cable in it. Especially since I was unpacking said boxes with my ipod in mind, wondering where it was.

In other news, the people living in the apartment upstairs were very very drunk at 1:30 AM. I should probably wander up there some day with cookies or brownies, so they don't think I'm just the mean neighbor downstairs who hates them and wants to eat them for breakfast because they're having fun.

Oh yeah, and in case I forgot to tell you, I'm going to be gone for a few days. I'm going on a winter retreat with the college group from FBC, and I'm taking my ipod with me. So there.

I Tried To Give Blood Today.

They wouldn't let me :( No, this does not mean I have AIDS. My blood just doesn't sink :( It almost did! It got like all the way to the bottom, then came back up again. I was sad. But I did get orange juice.

But yeah... I'll try again in a few days, and eat lots of green leafy things and burly red meats in the betweentime. Yes, I made that word up.

I'm almost happier now that things have gotten started for the quarter... I have stuff to do, yay! I think my team project is going to go well, and my first individual project is going to be easy... I don't know about the final project yet, but we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

Speaking of burning things, I want to play more video games. >_<

Yes Yes Yes!!!

Google has redeemed itself.

In case you don't feel like reading through that Q&A, here's the basic idea: they're not immediately making Google Talk for OS X or Linux, but instead they're using the standard XMPP protocol so that you can connect to gtalk users from other clients. This means I can use the gizmo project to talk to people who use google talk. This is good.

At the bottom of that page, it also says that google does eventually intend to make a Google Talk application for OS X and Linux. Whee!

Day 7499: Brooke discovers deadlines!

So ummm yeah. I forgot I had some stuff due tonight. Fortunately I remembered in time to get to the labs and get them done. I like working in the etech labs... maybe I'm insane. Or maybe I really just like working on the CAD problems, and I associate the labs with them.

Today was Rose's birthday. See, I've even capitalized her name for the occasion. Nathan and I made her a brownie cake with like an inch of frosting... we wanted to use cream cheese frosting because it's tasty, but the brownies came with chocolate frosting, so then we wanted to make a zebra pattern. It was a very sweet birthday cake.

I have the option of designing a desk organizer, a drawer organizer, or a simple protective case, as for an ipod or something. I think I will go with the third, only not for the ipod. Unfortunately I don't know what yet. Any ideas? I guess it's kind of useless to ask for ideas since I have to know in the next 48 minutes, but oh well.

aYarr!

I expect by the time I'm 50, I'll be a multi-billionaire who has gotten bored with Earth and decided to skip on to the next solar system. Shouldn't take that long to get there.

No seriously though... that's pretty funny. It would be even funnier if they suddenly discovered that all modern physicists are confused about the nature of the univere, and random crackpot sci-fi fanatics were right all along.

I went to a happy little party last night with much DDR, karaoke, taboo, and lots of cream puffs. There may or may not eventually be a video floating around of me trying to fit as many cream puffs as I can inside my mouth. I'm such a sucker for those sorts of things -.-

My purple hair is a big hit at my church... I had more little old ladies coming up and complimenting me on my hair yesterday than I ever have in my life. I really really wish someone made real permanent purple dye. There are two kinds at hot topic, both semi-permanent. The kind that's supposed to be best didn't stain anything but my hair... but it washed out in about a week, and took two applications to look really good. The other kind stained EVERYTHING, but has looked better for longer. I may have to find a different place to do it next time. I'm considering just taking the dye in to my favorite salon and asking them to do it for me. Then I could make their stuff purple.

Getting poked -.-

Lazy saturdays are one of the best things in the world, really. I apparently can kick brian's ass at dynasty warriors 4. Now I want to play dw5 with him too.

I have a brilliant new plan involving a lot of chopsticks and some long-distance pokeage retaliation.

Hurray for new music. I looked through brian's cd collection and found a few (read: 10) albums that I needed to steal. Still need some other stuff, but... yeah. This'll do me for new variety for a while.

I keep noticing more things that I accidentally turned purple the day brian dyed my hair. For example, brian's couch, vash's keyboard, and my pillow case (which fortunately was already purple... now it's a slightly darker shade in places.)

Also, my optical drive is making odd noises. o.O

All Your Job Are Belong To Me

They decided to for sure hire me full time this summer, and very likely as a work-study next year. They're going to call me next week and let me know about the rest of this year. Either way, it's fine with me... I was most concerned with securing a job for this summer, so I didn't end up with rent to pay and no income to pay it with.

In other news, I have joined the church choir at first baptist church. Practice is at 6 tonight, and I'm not particularly looking forward to walking there if it's still raining by then. It's been raining in B-ham for... 23 days straight I think? Maybe 24. I think I remember what the sun looks like...

It's not really that bad... it's much worse for rose and nicky. Rose works outdoors 10 hours a day, 4 days a week. She goes to work in the dark, works in the wet and cold, and then comes home in the dark. And then she thinks she shouldn't be feeling any sort of affect on her mood? :( silly rose.

Nicky has simply been living in winter for the past three years. She lives in new zealand most of the year, and just when it's getting towards summer, she comes to visit the states, where it's winter. Now it's not only winter, but constantly rainy. :( poor nicky.

Hello out there

I don't actually see my roommates that much anymore. I really do wish time didn't move so darn fast sometimes.

Tomorrow morning (sometime before 12) I should know whether or not I got that job. Tyler informed me that in order to do a work-study you have to actually have been awarded work-study money as part of your financial aid. Fortunately, I turned down one of the loans they offered me for financial aid at the beginning of the year, so there's an "outstanding need" that the lady might be able to convince people they should give me in the form of a work-study. Essentially.

She seems to really want to hire me. She likes my experience and qualifications, and she wants someone who will be willing to work full time in the summer, which is what I'm looking for. So now it's basically up to that random person who will decide whether they can afford to give me the work-study position even though I don't have a work-study award. Yay.

I put cheese on a vegan pizza. I expect to burst into flame any minute now.

Sleep is both underrated and overrated. It shouldn't be rated at all. Why do people rate it??? That's just silly.

Now I shall wait for this song to end, then head to bed. You can mock me for it later. I'd mock you, too.

Jittery

I have an interview sort of thing for a work-study job tomorrow. I'm exceedingly qualified for the job, and I think I'm a pretty hireable person. She also wants someone who will be available for full-time work in the summer, which is good for me.

Unfortunately, I had a cup of coffee today, which rather than making me hyperactive, generally makes my entire body shake. It's unfortunate, but I like coffee way too much to just give it up because my body doesn't like it.

I noticed in class today that my wisdom teeth are starting to poke through. I don't really want to deal with that. *sigh*

Oooh! Hung out with nicky and joe last night, and hung out with heather today, and all sorts of things like that. Yay.

New stuffs

I made pretty. As per sarah's request, there is now a pink sparkly template. I couldn't resist adding a little purple though <.<

Once I finished that, I whipped together a nice green one as well. It's definitely my new favorite, but I should warn those of you with sensitive eyes... it's a bright white background.

Eek... didn't mean to triple post this... the intarwebs were being spooty. I'll delete the others.

More Whining and Stuff

Yup, still got the plague.

Google has begun its descent from the level of Awesomest Ginormous Company Evar.

Growl

I can't make the perl module for Growl work, and until I get that working, I can't run the Growl script for irssi. I want the Growl script for irssi. Also, whilst in the Growl irc trying to figure out how to make the perl module for Growl work, someone suggested I use ssh and screen and irssi all at once to make it more wonderful. I like this suggestion. It would be a slightly better suggestion if I actually had a desktop computer at home.

I think I shall apply for a few work-study jobs on campus, to get some extra cash. It would be nice to remedy the whole not-having-a-desktop situation. I fixed up my resume this morning, after going to my terrible terrible 8 am lab. It was nice feeling that I had actually accomplished something with my time.

I did that in the underground coffee house, on the back and underside of VU. I love the atmosphere there, but I couldn't find a wall plug for my laptop. Plus, the problem with getting attached to coffee houses as a study/chill place is that it doesn't take long to get sucked into buying coffee. After that, it doesn't take long to get sucked into buying it *regularly*, and then you're just screwed.

I paid over $200 for two books today. I was not pleased. However, a friend gave me his book for one of my other classes, so it kind of made up for the badness. Kind of.

I haven't been sleeping at all well, and I'm still rather sick. I keep hoping that if I don't get enough sleep, I'll be too tired the next night to not sleep well. Thus far, it hasn't proved to be the case.

How can you people stand to read my writing? :P I even confuse myself.

He switches to a minor key at one point... *melts*

I stole it.

First day of classes went without incident. Need to buy books, stat. Need money to do that. Must wait for money. Grr Arrgh.

Ow.

The roof of my mouth hates me. It's almost to be expected, considering that I burned it three separate times today.

I cleaned my room today. Thoroughly. You would all be very impressed if you saw it. It's still got messy corners, and I'm currently attempting to devise a wicked plan for redirecting my tendency towards throwing stuff wherever. So far my plan is to create more places where things can go. I'll work from there.

Ew. The blister on the roof of my mouth just popped. *shudder* I'm way grossed out now.

I need to get ink for my printer. It would also be nice to get some paper for my classes, which start tomorrow. I failed in my mission to finish even one of the two books I borrowed from TJ over vacation. I'll probably finish the big U this weekend, and just give the gunslinger back to him unread :'(

That is all for today, since I'm long-entry-a-phobic. Speaking of which... I'm prezactly the opposite of claustrophobic. Small dark spaces are extremely comforting and relaxing. When I used to get upset as a child I would turn off the light in my room, shut the door, and crawl under my bed. Or I'd go sit inside my closet with the door closed. There you go, Random Fact About Brooke for the day.

Home Sweet Home just doesn't cut it.

It's not that I didn't enjoy being in Sequim. It was even spectacularly good, for a while. I got a dresser (finally) and will soon have a desk if all works out the way it should, and I got two blankets, and I got lots of quarters for laundry, and I got all SORTS of wicked cool christmas presents. But as much as one likes to see people, there comes a time when one needs to be back in a place they can call their own.

On a completely different note, it appears that I jenked a whole buttload of death cab for cutie from sharon. I was happy when I realized that. Currently on my list of Things I Need More Of is coheed and cambria, eurythmics, gorillaz, and incubus, not necessarily in that order. I also think I should get some sublime that's not acoustic. Need to get my hands on some old switchfoot and some new the listening.

My capitalization methods are all sorts of confused. Sorry about that.

Ruthie gave me rice bags for christmas, and I almost left them behind on accident, but brian made with the awesomeness and purposefully remembered them. <3 my boy. I did leave my pez dispenser behind, but I can hereby bequeath that to Brittainy. I have some nice menthol cough drops to keep me company instead. Less tasty, but more helpful.

Happy 2006

Have fun with that.

I may get back to bellingham before school starts. Note the uncertainty in that statement. I'm kind of enjoying the uncertainty in that statement :D

Brian and my sister's boyfriend are both visiting for a couple days, and it's been thoroughly entertaining to drag them around to see all the things I grew up with, etc. It was nice to have them both here together, so they can commiserate and stuff. My place can be a tad scary.

Boo!
