Whirlwind

It's been that kind of weekend. Amazingly, I did get my Ada program done. I'll have to learn to do that earlier in the week. Like, for instance, now. Catia isn't so much of a problem because it's more intuitive. I don't have to waste time figuring out which bits of thin air to pull my somethings from.

I may have picked up the plague from the rest of my household. Trying to drink lots of fluids and get enough vitamin c and stuff.

So yes, the weekend did in fact involve a certain amount of beerishness. Both Friday night and Saturday night had their share. There are now pictures up, courtesy of lyz. I have to thank my little (or I guess not so little anymore :| ) sister for the costume idea, I was quite taken with it.

Yarr, matey.

Beer, Beer, and Jonathan!

I'm not sure who you are either (though I do think it would be intriguing to discover who you know that I know), but I sincerely apologize for my appalling behavior in the titling of my preceding post.

Beer doesn't deserve such treatment, that's for sure. It's the nectar of the gods, brewed by naked virgins in a secret glade, and protected by violent men with swords. Or at least I could likely convince you that's the case, after we've both commenced with the beerishness.

Lord bless Charlie Mops, the man who invented beer.

Beer, Beer, Beer!

Our mousetrap car went about twice as far as everyone else's. It was built much more sturdily, and it was aligned much more correctly than anyone else. Because of this, it also did half decently in the drag race, even though it wasn't really designed to go fast. Some of the other cars just were so poorly built that they had issues crossing the finish line. Two out of the seven groups were able to move the block in the towing competition, and ours wasn't one of them.

We still have a few ideas to allow our car to at least be slightly competitive in those areas, but at least it did well in the distance. If we can get it so straight that it never hits the wall, we might actually hit 100 feet or so. Today our top distance was about 88. Because that's where it hit the wall.

However, apparently one of the cars in yesterday's group hit 94 feet. We may be able to beat them, but I'm not entirely sure.

I also finished my individual project model today, which means the only thing I have to really concentrate on tonight is my programming lab. Tomorrow, if I've got that done, I may be able to spend a hefty amount of time on the actual Catia lab for this week, which is due monday and I haven't even touched this week, because of insanity regarding mousetrap cars.

If I ever find time again, I will try to fix my menu. I promise.

Testing

The little menu doesn't work at the moment. Ignore that, I'll work on it later. This post is mostly a test to find out whether blogger will do what I want it to do or not. It might decide to be utterly mean. In which case I may have to have a little talk with it.

When I get it working, I promise there will eventually be a sparkly pink one for a certain someone ;)

*Blargh!*

I'm very worn out. Not feeling very well at all. Hoping I've not gotten myself sick, because if I have then I've probably already given it to brian, rose, benson, and nathan, in that order.

Now if I've done things right, you should be able to get either the black or the white backgrounds on this, by refreshing. I may have done things wrong, I haven't checked yet. Optimally, the idea is to have a few more of these, and steal nathan's code so's to make it all user's preference.

Now if only I'd spent that time today studying for my test tomorrow :(

We did however get our mousetrap car to run 81 feet. Last quarter's best distance was 79. We've got a week and a day to tweak it some more, stabilize the axle, and possibly implement a couple other ideas that will either help or hinder the whole process. I certainly hope we get a good grade for this, or I'm going to be seriously pissed off.

Oh, and I need to do that individual project. Stupid team project getting priority -.-

YAAAAYY!

I finally got hot pix of my niece! Check it out, yo.

She's so cute! She has hair! Yay!

I wonder if I can pull of a Thanksgiving visit down there, as my other two older sisters are doing. Hmmmmmm. Probably should make that decision soon.

o.O

Okay, as much as I hate to admit it, tyler was right. That last post was just vague enough to make everyone think they knew what I meant, and they were for the most part entirely wrong. So if you want to know what I actually meant, you should probably ask me.

I have a test tomorrow in math, and one the day after in programming. The math is all straight out of the book, and the programming prof posts his lecture notes online. This supposedly means that if I put the time into studying, I should do pretty well. We shall see. One possible complication is the fact that I really quite honestly don't know how to study. I'm not quite so bad off as Joe perhaps, but that's not saying much.

I'm considering putting a little mac tiger tutorial type thing up on a side page. Not entirely sure how I would organize that, but it would be kind of fun. I'd make a faq first, probably... questions like "how do you burn a cd?" I'd also have a separate section for power users, involving third party software and the best ways to do things like networking, etc. I'd have to brush up myself on that sort of thing... but it would be fun and educational.

GRRRR, someone just asked a dumb question again. It's the same person who asked a dumb question last time. And the same person who asks a dumb question every time. Every time, the teacher gets this look on his face like "how could you possibly not understand this? Is that an incredibly dumb question or am I just not understanding what you want to know?"

Wooh, extra long post. Sorry :P

Musing

It's absolutely impossible to put everything here that I'm actually thinking/feeling. Not to mention, most of it's none of your business unless I tell you in person anyways ;)

Life is changing far too rapidly for me to keep track or pay attention to it all. It's good change (for the most part) but I feel like I'm missing out, not being allowed the time to let it soak in. I want to savor the moments, but they keep disappearing, like the snowflakes that land on the back of your hand.

Tyler insists that my blog is vague, so I will try to be less... vague. I'll start on that next time though ;)

-.-

8 AM classes are the bane of my existance.

Also, apparently nothing has changed since high school. I came into my programming class this morning and the lights were all off, but nobody was really bothering to turn them on. Five minutes later the prof comes in and turns them on, to find written on the board "whose douche is in the drawer?"

He kinda looked at it... looked at his desk drawers.... looked back at the board... then erased it.

Edit: Looks like he's not having a good day. He was just getting into his lecture this morning when a message pops up on his screen saying "Automatic Update: restarting in 4 minutes. Restart now?" Then has a Restart Now button... the Restart Later button is greyed out. It was awesome.

I'm an aunt!!

To a little (and by little, I mean FREAKIN' LITTLE) girl by the name of Sydney Madison Lalime. She was born yesterday at around 1:40 PM I believe. I talked to her mother this morning, and both seemed to be in perfect health, though tired. Pictures may be forthcoming, assuming I get any myself :)

At this time I must depart to obtain nourishment in the company of brian, benson, and rose.

I'm a bad girl

Staying up very late in the labs with brian and benson is not very conducive to good studying habits.

Also... I really need to learn to pay attention in my classes instead of just be there. Otherwise being there is REEEALLY not worth my time. Note: This does not mean I should give up going to them because I don't pay attention, it means I should learn to pay attention.

Really not sure why I'm still here...

Bloody fantastic!

I bled to save lives, Julie style. They bruised me though, left a nice nasty purple welt looking thing on my arm. They said something about the blood being scarce at the moment, and I was sad. Rose and I had an awesome time shouting things across the room to eachother while we were feeding the vampires :)

Went shopping tonight and I was zonked... therefor decided not to go to bible study tonight, even though I really wanted to :(

Sidenote: Therefor/therefore is a really stupid word. It seems I can't find a spellchecker that will tell me which of them is correct, and people I ask tend to disagree. I'm not motivated enough to actually look it up, so the first one of you who does it for me gets a gold star.

Blargh!

Dear Diary: Today I was tired and my roommate was lazy.

Today I spontaneously imploded, never to be heard from again. It was the best day ever.

Knots are bad

Except when they're good. In this case they're pretty bad. And there are rather a lot of them. Rose gave me a back massage, and that helped rather a lot. It's pretty bad though when you hit two *other* knots by accident while you're working on one.

Benson's mom thinks it could be partly the fault of the airbed I sleep on. I'm thinking it's possible, but I know that it's mostly because of my The Cheat bag. :(

My mom is doing well, they nuked her brain yesterday, so she'll have a headache for the next couple of weeks. She's planning on flying to LA on the 22nd (I believe) to see her granddaughter, who is due in two days but I'm predicting she'll be later, possibly almost into november.

Oh! That's what I wanted to do... make all my family guess the birthdate. Kinda getting a little late for that now, but I guess we could still do it.

RaR! I'm a T-rex. RAAAR.

uh... woot?

About half an hour ago, Apple released their much anticipated "one more thing" that actually happens to be three more things.

5th generation ipod, iTunes 6, and a shiny new iMac G5. I'll take these in order.

New ipod - skinnier, better battery, bigger screen, 30GB and 60 GB options, video support, and most importantly, available in black. That alone will boost sales. By a lot. It's sexy.

iTunes 6 - they beefed up the store and improved video support. From what I can tell, they're trying to replace quicktime altogether. They've also added a feature for sending music and video files as gifts. Purchased ones only, I gather. It could be nifty, and it could majorly suck and only be nifty for people who want to spend money.

iMac G5 - built in webcam, mighty mouse, PCI-express, dual-layer DVD burner, built-in airport and bluetooth. And a remote. Seriously.

All in all fairly nifty. None of it something I'm going to go out and buy (who wants to watch movies on a 2.5 inch screen??), but still nifty.

Stress

My back hurts. A lot. It keeps getting worse, and I don't know what to do to make it not keep getting worse. I think perhaps it's just the natural result of being very tense for a week and not getting quite enough sleep.

My classes appear to be going well. It seems I've gotten 48/50 on my first math test. This would be very encouraging except that the most possible points was 80/50 because there were 3 extra credit problems worth 10 points each. Supposedly they were harder than the actual test, but I found them easier, for the most part. If I'd had more time I would have finished a couple more of them and gotten closer to 60-65.

First test in physics is tomorrow. I should study for that, eh?

Now off to do pretty solid modeling.

By the way, boys are confusing.

Titles

You may have noticed that my subject line often has absolutely nothing to do with the post that follows it. I went without for a very long time, and I liked it that way. It was somehow less stressful. Funny thing is, the only reason I use them now is because I think it makes the whole thing look better.

Throughout the day I think of random exciting things that are blog-worthy. Apparently there's a magic genie that lives in my browser and causes me to instantly forget such things the minute I connect to blogger.com.

I shall name this genie Maynard.

Things are fun to do.

I'm glad I didn't get too excited.

Rose and I are decorating our living room with friendly pictures and the like. Our strawberry will have company.

I'm incredibly incredibly tired. I really just want to sleep all weekend, but I have fun things to do like go swing dancing and go to church (I found one by the way... it's kickass (and yet I wonder how they would react to me calling them kickass (I'm fairly certain very few of them would take it the right way))) and writing programs and making CAD drawings and calculating voltages and currents.

I wish I were content being single. I very much feel that until you're content with yourself you can't be truly content with another person. You're using them to make yourself content, and that means you're in it for yourself, and not for them. That's not the kind of love I want.

Attention Please

Your friend Brooke has decided that individuality is not all it's cracked up to be. She will now be assimilated into the collective.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Wigwam!

Went ice skating. I keep trying to convince it that it's spelled scating. It doesn't believe me.

My chair bit me, and I bit back.

I've decided that circuit analysis is so much like my old physics class that I am going to simply call it physics whenever I'm talking about it. It's much easier to remember and say that circuit analysis.

My poor physics prof is not very good at explaining things when people have questions. Especially dumb questions. It's kind of like "how do you not get this? I'm sorry, I can't help you if you don't understand the most basic concepts." I agree with him, but I'm evil so I'm not sure that counts.

I'm kind of stressed this week. Keep my mom in your thoughts, prayers, or whatever you feel like.

Bloody elephants on my roof!

So I'm sure many of you are wondering exactly why I made the switch from silicon insight to shiny foo. Basically there was this deal where I get to start paying for my website instead of leeching off someone else entirely, and I thought "hey! I haven't spent enough money on things that are almost but not quite entirely useless! How 'bout it?"

So that's pretty much the whole story, and now I have a nifty geeky domain name. Maybe I'll redesign! That would be fun, eh?

I can even make nathan help me this time. That's a fine little evil plot.
